Muong Hoa valley is Sapa's largest and most scenic valley, situated between the Hoang Lien and Can Thang mountain range. In the center sits the lyrical and serene Muong Hoa stream.
Various ethnic minorities live along the Muong Hoa valley, including the Mong, Dao, Tay, Giay, and Xa Pho. This is also the owner of 749.58 hectares of terraced fields winding endlessly along the mountainside, forming a natural masterpiece at the foot of the Hoang Lien mountain range. Sapa terraced fields are as lovely as a water painting in the pouring season (March-May) and as vivid as a golden carpet in the ripening rice season (August-September). The beautiful and calm Muong Hoa stream runs across the valley, providing alluvium to the terraced crops.
Sapa terraced fields have been designated as a National Landscape Monument by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism since 1994, and have been voted as one of the seven exquisite terraced fields and the most appealing in Southeast Asia.
Visisting Muong Hoa valley Visitors can not only view the gorgeous natural beauty, but also learn about the ethnic minorities' unique culture and folk wisdom.
