Lồng Tồng (New Crop) Festival: The biggest and most famous festival of the Tay people is the Lồng Tồng festival which means the festival of new havesting season. The Lồng Tồng Festival of Tay people in Sa Pa is usually held in the early spring with the wish to pray for a bountiful crops, lush trees, peaceful people - prosperous things.
The festival consists of two parts, the Ceremony and the Festival. The ceremony includes the ritual of offerings to the gods: God of Village, Gods of mountains, and Gods of streams, praying for "bountiful rice crop, big and healthy seeds ; packed ponds and streams of fish; huge cattle flocks; loaded yards of poultry; healthy people, large families with more children"

Coming after the ceremony is the festival. The focal point of the festival is the "ném còn", a ball-throwing game, praying for the abundant harvest and good fortune. There are also many folk games such as tug of war, cockfighting simullation with banana flowers (as the roosters), and buffalo fighting simulation with  bamboo shoots (as the buffalos), which are extremely unique and cheerful. Finally, the flounce custom around a big tree to pray for "blooming rice and corn crops"
